Basic education in law studies can be earned at either a vocational school, university or a law school. Being a standard requisite to becoming a lawyer, students need to earn their law degree through an accredited law studies program. Planned for a wide range of legal professions, law schools offer essential training and skills necessary to begin a career in law and criminal justice.

Varied in curriculum, the study of law involves various legal aspects of Administration, Business and Bankruptcy, Communications Law, Civil Law, Constitutional Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Cyberspace Law, Education and Environmental Law, as well as Estates, Trusts and Wills. Other areas covered also include Family, Health and Immigration Law, Insurance Law, Intellectual Property (Copyright Issues), Employment and Labor Law, and countless other associated studies.

However there are no two law schools that are same, students who strive to work in the legal field needs to guide their academic curriculum towards their definite area of interest. As undergraduate law studies encompasses of several mentioned courses topics, it is important for prospective students to focus on one or two primary arenas of law in order to gain maximum out of their educational experience.

This is a challenging academic field, as law studies are pursued through vocational school or college that can be quite beneficial to those who are seriously contemplating a career as a practicing attorney. Previous law studies are almost always required and are extremely useful while applying any law school or trade school geared towards law. Many of these prerequisite classes may include Introduction to Insurance, Law and Legal Processes, Business Law, elementary latin, Financial and Managerial Accounting, Public Speaking, and Psychology, in accumulation to a general education.

Law studies offered at trade or vocational schools need to be considered entry-level, may guide to professional certifications or an associate degree. Student who have successfully completed law school have to go into relevant legal professions including legal and paralegal justice areas along with correction and law enforcement criterions. In addition to this, the ambitious student can continue their studies at a college or university in order to become a practicing lawyer.
