Students often complain of lack of concentration during studying, especially during the exam times. Also, people complain of difficulty in concentrating while reading any book, magazine, etc. Here are some of the tips that many students will find helpful in improving their concentration power and doing well in life:

1.Asking yourself questions again and again: The key to maintaining focus is to stop at regular intervals and asking yourself certain questions, such as;

a. How does this relate to what I already know?
b. If this fact true, what else does it follows?
c. What else could these facts mean in different ways?
d. What is the relevance / evidence of this?
e. Am I able to think of an example that relates to this?
f. What are the unique characteristics of this?

2.Getting out the most from Reading:

a. Please check off, with a pencil, pen or marker, each paragraph, that you completely understand. If you start to get lost in the reading, you will know exactly where just after the last check.
b. If a section seems too difficult to understand, try reading it in a whisper.
c. It’s advisable to stop or take a break at regular intervals and summarize out loud what you have read.
d. Try to link the new information with the information you have just read. Please ask yourself some questions: How do I already know this?
e. Take a few seconds to visualize of what you have read at regular intervals.
f. Please write down the key words and concepts. There are 3 R’s: read, rite and recite, by doing this you have got better chance of retaining critical information.
g. Take a few minutes to review the information you have jut learned in between the break you take before you start up again.

3. Reading the Ideas:

The golden rule says that, when you are reading, stop at the end of each paragraph, page, understand what it says, try to remember it and move forward.

Following the above points carefully, one is sure to improve his / her concentration power and fare well in exams.

All the best
