Finding loopholes with police probe in the dummy writers' scam, Gujarat High Court on Monday directed a fresh investigation in the entire incident. Acting on a PIL filed by Manish Doshi, demanding thorough probe in last year's examination scam, a division Bench headed by Chief Justice SJ Mukhopadhaya asked police to probe the case further.

The police have filed C' summary on the principal's complaint regarding the incident, which the magistrate has not yet accepted. The division Bench criticised the police investigation severely and directed the investigating officer to probe the case again, this time he is asked to record statements of all concerned officials of Gujarat Secondary and High Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), from peon to the invigilator and flying squad members present in the examination hall at the time of incidence.

The court also asked the education department to go ahead with departmental proceedings initiated against responsible board officials. Upon the recommendations of the vigilance commissioner, the education department had issued a charge sheet to then secretary of GSHSEB), HN Chavda. The department was also contemplating action against the education inspector, MC Doshi, for his alleged tractability in the mischief.

Two students Harsh Kotak and Komal Patel were caught faking fractures in their hands to have bright students write their examination papers. A criminal complaint was lodged in this regard as departmental proceedings were also initiated against school authorities and the board officials. The court has kept further hearing on this issue on January 21.
