BREIF INTRODUCTION-Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is the statutory university established by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003 and is built on the structure of National Law School of India University, Bangalore. The University has its intensive and exhaustive curriculum based on the National Law School model and follows a two semester per year pattern. The University also encourages and includes additional project work, report writing, research and analysis in its syllabus. The objectives of the University are to advance and disseminate the learning and knowledge of law and legal processes in a way, so as to develop in the students and research scholars, a sense of responsibility towards their role in national development. Students are guided in a way which helps them develop skills in regard to advocacy, legislation, parliamentary practices, law reforms and such other matters. The Gujarat National Law University organises regular seminars and Conferences and noted dignitaries have delivered lectures at the University. Some of them include Justice Y.K Sabharwal, the ex-CJI of India, Justice C.K. Thakker, Judge, SC of India, noted legal personality and Former Attorney General of India, Soli Sorabjee and Prof. Upendra Baxi. There is a strong academic and intellectual environment. GNLU offers 3 integrated 5-year programs-

The University has a well equipped library containing books related to various subjects in law as well as other non law subjects like Commerce, History and Sociology. The library also possesses various Law Reports both National and International. The University has good infrastructural facilities. GNLU is one of the few National Law Universities to give its students an attached toilet and bathroom. There is Internet connectivity in the hostel rooms.
Moot Court and legal and other events are held regularly in the University, as a part of the curriculum as well as an extra curricular activity. There are various committees which take care of other related areas like- Literary and Debating Committees, Mess and Cultural Committees, Legal Aid Committee. The University also runs a monthly online e-journal titled Just Cause which contains articles and reviews, mostly contributed by the students of the University.
A six-week internship in the winter break (November-December) is compulsory. 1st year students are to intern in an NGO, 2nd year students under a Trial Court advocate, 3rd year students under a High Court advocate, 4th year students under a Supreme Court advocate or in a law firm and 5th year students in an MNC, thus giving exposure to different types of career options after completion of the law degree.
The young law graduates get lucrative job offers from many internationally and nationally renowned law firms; whereas others practice in High Courts or join famous lawyers.
ELIGIBILITY - Admissions are based exclusively on merit as assessed in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) with the following qualifications-
The candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) or an examination equivalent thereof, securing in aggregate not less than 50% in all the core subjects and English put together.
The candidate must not have completed 20 years of age as on July 1st, 2008, in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category age limit is 22 years.
All those who have appeared in the qualifying examinations are entitled to write the Admission Test. But any candidate securing less than 50% in the qualifying examination will be denied admission notwithstanding his/her rank in the Admission Test. The test carries a maximum of 200 marks and comprises of objective type of questions on English, general knowledge, maths, logic and legal knowledge, of 10+2 standard. The test is of 2 hours duration

Schedule Caste - 15% (24 seats) Schedule Tribe - 7.5 %( 12 seats) Persons with Disability - 3% (5 seats)
Domiciled in Gujrat - 10% (16 seats) ADMISSION PROCEDURE -After clearing the CLAT examination, the student needs to send to the Registrar, NLSIU a demand draft of the requisite amount along with a confirmation letter of joining the course or not. The college takes no responsibility of postal delays.
