Indian Law Societies Law College (ILS), Pune.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION- ILS Law College, Pune is one of the top Law Colleges of India. ILS Society established ILS Law College in 1924 with the objective of providing facilities for the study of Law on a scientific basis. The college was initially affiliated to the University of Bombay. With the establishment of the University of Pune in 1949, the college was affiliated to it. In 2004, the ILSLaw College was accredited the A+ level by NAAC. It offers students a holistic environment that encourages exposure to social, cultural, and physical activities that complement the top-of-the-class legal education imparted by the college. ILS is also part of the EU Law Poros program, 1st year students can also apply for this diploma course. The best students from the program get a chance to go on an exchange program to Greece for a semester of study there. The college also has Partnership with University of Warwick, British Council, NLSIU Bangalore, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London; Supported by Ford Foundation to sustain innovation in teaching techniques and methods of learning during 1996-2000. At ILS financial assistance under the students aid fund is also provided to students on the basis of attendance, tutorial work, good behavior, progress during the term and whose total annual family income does not exceed 18000/-. The placement of the young law graduates is almost 90%, at prestigious and renowned law firms and lawyers.
The Law College has the largest law library in Asia. Housed on a separate floor of the Sarswati building, the LS library contains 45,128 books and volumes of periodicals, journals and magazines. Some of the old law reports available in the library are nowhere else to be found. The library is also equipped with faclilities like computers, photocopying machines, online public Access Catalogue (OPAC), reading room and home lending facilities. Apart from the academic and administrative buildings, the College facilities ate further enriched with a huge residential complex for male students; the newly constructed Ladies Hostel, a gymnasium, a sprawling cricket and football ground, a sports pavilion housing the indoor sports facilities, tennis courts and a swimming pool.
The college has a huge number of student clubs and soceities which take care of the extra-curricular activities, like- mootong, debating, drama, sports, cultural soceity and many others. It also has a Legal Aid Cell which is devoted to dispensing free legal advice and litigation assistance to the economically under privileged, the Conciliation Cell makes an attempt to settle disputes amicably.
ILS offers the following courses-:

 

  • BSLLLB (five year law course)

  • LLB (three year law course)

  • MLL&LW (Masters Degree in Labour Law and Labour Welfare, course duration - 2year.)

  • DTL (Diploma in Taxation Laws, course duration -1year)

  • DLL&LW (Diploma in Labour Laws and Labour Welfare, course duration - 1year).


ELIGIBILITY
-Admissions for BSL (five-Year Degree Course) is completely on the basis of merit, with the following educational qualifications-

1.the candidate must have passed 10+2 or on equivalent exam with the minimum score of-

- 40% for candidates belonging to SC/ST


- 45% for candidates belonging to general category

NO. OF SEATS
- There is 240 seats available for the students.

RESERVATION SCHEME
-The College follows the government policies and guidelines for reservation while allocating seats.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE-
The fees must be paid by
Demand Draft
of any Nationalized Bank or Rupee Co-operative Bank drawn in favour of "Principal, ILS Law College, Pune" payable at Pune, immediately after the interview. The candidate who fails to pay the fees on the same day will be deemed to have given up their claim to admission.

All other fees and rules of payment, concessions etc. as stated in the prospectus will be applicable. If any fees are increased during the academic year by the College under any rules, orders or direction given from time to time by the State Government, PuneUniversity, EIRA or other authorities, the student will be liable to pay any such increase.
