BRIEF INTRODUCTION- The University established in 1997, is modeled on the lines of National Laws School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. Currently ranked as the third best law school of India, it aims at providing the country with great lawyers with social responsibility. Faculty at NLIU uses an inter-disciplinary approach for teaching students, where learning is through a combination of textbooks, classroom tuition, discussions, seminars and research projects. The university also awards scholarships for the deserving and meritorious students. The patron of the university is the Hon. Chief Justice of India and the university works closely with the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, as well as the neighboring National Judicial Academy. The university has good infrastructural facilities. It has a well equipped library with myriad collection of reference books, back volumes of journals and law reports, current legal periodicals and a wealth of statistical material and rare collections. The students maintain the computerized 'knowledge management system' that adds around 5000 student projects to the database annually and aids in disseminating information for research. It also has separate Halls of Residence for boys and girls, both of which are spacious and well equipped. Students of the University regularly place amongst the best in the country. Their career choices vary with some opting to join some of the top law firms, corporate houses, and non-governmental organizations in the country. The University provides for two internship periods, January and May-June for students to gain experience through practical training while working with proper law firms, lawyers and organizations. Some of the companies and firms who offer internships are Amarchand Mangaldas, Dua Associates, JSA, ARA Law and Luthra and Luthra. The co-curricular activities of the university is regulated and overseen by the various committees. All the committees are run by students with a faculty in-charge. They have their own constitution and the students have been given the independence to formulate the working mode of these committee. The Moot Court Associatin (MCA), controls the selection of students and the organisation of moot court competitons, whch form an important part of the curriculum of law. Apart from this, other soceities are- Debating Club, Placement Co-ordination Committee(PCC), The Literary Soceity, Debating Club, Gender Justice Cell, Law and Economics soceity, ATHENA. The university also has certain research centers like- Center for Reseach and International Law, Center for crminal Law Studies, Human Rights Cell, Cell For Constitutional Jurispridence. ELIGIBILITY- Admissions are based exclusively on merit as assessed in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) with the following qualifications-
The candiate must not have less than 50% of the total marks in 10+2 or its equivalent examination thereto. This requirement is reduced to 45% in case of SC, ST and OBC categories
Must be less than 20 years of age as on 1st July 2008. Relaxation of 2 years is permitted for candidates of reserved categories
The test carries a maximum of 200 marks and comprises of objective type of questions on English, general knowledge, maths, logic and legal knowledge, of 10+2 standard. The test is of 2 hours duration.
NO. OF SEATS -The NLIU admits 82 students for its B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) programme. Out of these 82 seats, 41 seats are for All India Candidates and remaining 41 seats are for the residents of Madhya Pradesh to be filled up through Common Law Admission Test.

Schedule Caste - 12 seats Schedule Tribe - 14 seats Physically Challenged - 02 seats ADMISSION PROCEDURE- After clearing the examination, the student needs to contact the Registrar, NLIU, Bhopal and send a demand draft of the requisite fees, that is Rs. 1,03,000/-.
