National Law School (NLS), Delhi.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION- National Law School (NLS) established in 2008 by Act 1 of 2008 of National Capital Territory of Delhi is another premier law university, with the status of a deemed university, joining the band of premier Law Universities established in India. It is established on the guidelines of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore and has a likewise rigorous and detailed curriculum. The University is funded by the Delhi Government and in under the supervision and guidance of Delhi High Court. The biggest advantage of the University is, it being located in the capital of India, New Delhi. It has the High Court and the Supreme Court at a comfortable distance and has at disposal the country's best libraries and other amenities to support the curriculum, which cannot be found at other legal institutions. The vision of the University is to create a premier Global Legal Institute which would complete with the best within and outside India, with a View to imparting knowledge of various aspects of law to the youngsters and introduce them to a wide range of opportunities in legal profession across the globe. The Chief Justice of India is the visitor at the university and Delhi High Court Chief Justice is the chancellor of the university, thereby ensuring high administrative and educational standards.
The sprawling university is near completion and is due to start its batches from 2008 onwards. The University has state-of-art infrastructure, with all facilities for learning and research in law. The University provides liberal scholarships/ fee waivers for the needy and deserving students admitted to the course. In the days to come, the university is bound to go to great heights and carve a niche for itself, thereby following the suit of the National Law Schools.
ELIGIBILITY- Admissions are based exclusively on merit as assessed in All India Entrance Examination with the following qualifications-

 

  1. The candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) or an examination equivalent thereof, securing in aggregate not less than 50% in all the core subjects and English put together.

  2. Must not have completed 21 years of age as on 1st July, 2008 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category age limit is 23 years.


The test carries a maximum of 200 marks and comprises of objective type of questions on English, general knowledge, maths, logic and legal knowledge, of 10+2 standard. The test is of 1 hour and 39 minutes duration. There is no negative marking.

for B.A, LL.B (hons) course; of which 70 seats are through merit in the All India Entrance Examination, and 10 seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE- After clearing the examination, the student needs to contact the

and send a demand draft of the requisite fees, that is Rs. 35,000/-.
Academic Support Service Fee and other fees, Hostel and Mess charges will be extra. Hostel residence is compulsory.
